July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Data List / Active Test

  1. PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION [SMART KEY SYSTEM]
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC-2.
    2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the Techstream.
      1. Select "DataLogger".
      2. Select "Modules".
      3. Select "Modules".
    3. Select the applicable PID from the PID table.
    4. Verify the PID data according to the directions on the screen.

    HINT:

    • The PID data screen function is used for monitoring the calculated value of input/output signals in the module. Therefore, if the monitored value of the output parts is not within the specification, it is necessary to inspect the monitored value of input parts corresponding to the applicable output part control. In addition, because the system does not display an output part malfunction as an abnormality in the monitored value, it is necessary to inspect the output parts individually.
    • When detecting DTCs, PIDs related to a malfunctioning system may not display even if the module is normal. Therefore, if a PID is not displayed, it is necessary to verify the DTC, perform malfunction diagnosis of the DTC that was detected, and do repairs.
  2. PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [SMART KEY SYSTEM]

Body Electrical > Smart Start Unit > Data List

Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
Liftgate/Trunk Lock Switch - Off/On - Displays in the Techstream but it does not operate.
Entry Lock and Unlock Switch (Left Front) The signal is input to the engine stop and start ECU through the certification ECU unit of the entry lock and unlock switch (LF). Off/On Entry lock and unlock switch (LF) operation condition
    • Off: Entry lock and unlock switch (LF) is off.
    • On: Entry lock and unlock switch (LF) is on.
    D4-15 (certification ECU communication)
Entry Lock and Unlock Switch (Right Front) The signal is input to the engine stop and start ECU through the certification ECU of the entry lock and unlock switch (RF). Off/On entry lock and unlock switch (RF) operation condition
    • Off: Entry lock and unlock switch (RF) is off.
    • On: Entry lock and unlock switch (RF) is on.
    D4-15 (certification ECU communication)
  3. ACTIVE COMMAND MODES INSPECTION [SMART KEY SYSTEM]
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC-2.
    2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the Techstream.
      1. Select "DataLogger".
      2. Select "Modules".
      3. Select "engine stop and start ECU".
    3. Select the simulation items from the PID table.
    4. Perform the active command modes function, inspect the operations for each parts.
      • If the operation of output parts cannot be verified after the active command mode inspection is performed, this could indicate the possibility of an open or short circuit, sticking, or operation malfunction in the output parts.
  4. ACTIVE COMMAND MODES TABLE [SMART KEY SYSTEM]

    HINT:

    • Simulation items on parts which are not equipped to the vehicle do not operate.

    Outer Buzzer
    • When the simulation item BZR_OUT is turned on, a force override signal is sent to the certification ECU from the engine stop and start ECU, and the certification ECU drives (sounds) the wireless door lock buzzer.
    • With adoption of a separate excitation buzzer to the wireless door lock buzzer, buzzer does not sound normally even if the voltage is applied to the buzzer unit because there is no oscillation circuit. The integrity of the wireless door lock buzzer is determined using the simulation item BZR_OUT.
    • If the keyless buzzer does not sound even though the simulation function BZR_OUT is on, perform diagnosis using the following procedure.
      • Press the door control transmitter lock/unlock button repeatedly and measure the terminal voltage of the keyless buzzer when the button is pressed.
    Voltage is output
    • Keyless buzzer malfunction may have occurred.
    Voltage is not output
    • Related wiring harness, or certification ECU malfunction may have occurred.
    Off/On
    • Off: Wireless door lock buzzer does not sound.
    • On: Wireless door lock buzzer sounds.
Wireless door lock buzzer Ignition switched ON (engine off or on)
