Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Operating the ignition switch, any switches or any doors triggers related ECU and sensor communication with the CAN, which causes resistance variation.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A27 and D56 ECM connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D56-81 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D56-42 (E02) - Body ground
      D56-43 (E01) - Body ground
      D56-82 (ME01) - Body ground
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A27-1 (BATT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      A27-2 (+B2) - Body ground Battery positive (+) voltage is applied to terminal MREL
      A27-3 (+B) - Body ground Battery positive (+) voltage is applied to terminal MREL
      A27-34 (MREL) - Body ground Ignition switch off

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK (for 2UZ-FE) A
      OK (for 3UR-FE) B
      NG C

    B: REPLACE ECM  (See REMOVAL )

    C: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    A: REPLACE ECM  (See REMOVAL )
