Inspection Procedure
- CHECK VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL (DISPLAY CHECK MODE)
- Enter the "Display Check" mode and select "Vehicle Signal Check" (See OPERATION CHECK ).
- Check that the vehicle speed on the display changes according to the actual vehicle speed.
OK: The display changes according to the actual vehicle speed.
HINT:
This display is updated once per second. As a result, it is normal for the display to lag behind the actual change in the vehicle speed.
NG: Go to step 4
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - NAVIGATION ECU)
- Disconnect the F30 display connector.
- Disconnect the F32 ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCETester Connection Condition Specified Condition F30-16 (SPD2) - F32-4 (SPD) Always Below 1 Ω F30-16 (SPD2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK MULTI-DISPLAY
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition F30-16 (SPD2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever moved to R 11 to 14 V F30-16 (SPD2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever moved to P Below 1 V NG: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY (See MULTI-DISPLAY (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM) )
OK: REPLACE NAVIGATION ECU (See NAVIGATION ECU )
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- CHECK COMBINATION METER (SPEEDOMETER OPERATION)
- Drive the vehicle and check if the function of the speedometer in the combination meter is normal.
OK: Actual vehicle speed and the speed indicated on the speedometer are the same.
HINT:
The vehicle speed sensor is functioning normally when the indication on the speedometer is normal.
NG: GO TO METER/GAUGE SYSTEM (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
OK: Go to Next Step
- Drive the vehicle and check if the function of the speedometer in the combination meter is normal.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - COMBINATION METER)
- Disconnect the F28 display connector.
- Disconnect the E7 meter connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCETester Connection Condition Specified Condition F28-14 (SPD) - E7-4 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω F28-14 (SPD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
