July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK REVERSE SIGNAL (DISPLAY CHECK MODE) 
    1. Enter the "Display Check" mode and select "Vehicle Signal Check Mode" (See OPERATION CHECK  ).
    2. Check that the display changes between ON and OFF according to the shift lever operation.

      OK 

    SHIFT LEVER OPERATION

    Shift Lever Position Display
    R ON
    Except R OFF

    HINT:

    This display is updated once per second. As a result, it is normal for the display to lag behind the actual change in the switch.

    NG:  Go to step  4

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - NAVIGATION ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the F30 display connector.
    2. Disconnect the F32 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

    RESISTANCE REFERENCE

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    F30-15 (REV2) - F32-20 (REV) Always Below 1 Ω
    F30-15 (REV2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK MULTI-DISPLAY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

    VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    F30-15 (REV2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever moved to R 11 to 14 V
    F30-15 (REV2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever moved to other than R Below 1 V

    NG: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY  (See MULTI-DISPLAY (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)  )

    OK: REPLACE NAVIGATION ECU  (See NAVIGATION ECU  )

  4. CHECK PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the F28 display connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

    VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    F28-13 (REV) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), the shift lever moved to R 11 to 14 V
    F28-13 (REV) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), the shift lever moved to other than R Below 1 V

    NG: Go to step 5

    OK: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY  (See MULTI-DISPLAY (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)  )

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the F28 display connector.
    2. Disconnect the C19 position switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

    RESISTANCE REFERENCE

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    F28-13 (REV) - C19-1 Always Below 1 Ω
    F28-13 (REV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  (See REMOVAL )
