Inspection Procedure

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition E8-3 (E1) - Body ground Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the ECM connector.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT EFI RELAY VOLTAGE
- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room junction block.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard voltage
VOLTAGE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition 5 (EFI relay) - Body ground 9 to 14 V - Reinstall the EFI relay.
OK: Go to step 4

NG: Go to next step
- INSPECT FUSE (EFI FUSE)
- Inspect the EFI fuse.
NG: REPLACE FUSE (EFI FUSE)
OK: CHECK AND REPAIR HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - EFI RELAY)
- INSPECT EFI RELAY (See INSPECTION PROCEDURE
)
NG: REPLACE EFI RELAY
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EFI RELAY - ECM)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room junction block.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open)
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition E4-1 (+B) - 3 (EFI relay) Below 1 Ω E4-2 (+B2) - 3 (EFI relay) Below 1 Ω Standard resistance (Check for short)
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition E4-1 (+B) or 3 (EFI relay) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher E4-2 (+B2) or 3 (EFI relay) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Reinstall the EFI relay.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT ECM (IGSW VOLTAGE)
- Disconnect the ECM connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard voltage
VOLTAGE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition E4-9 (IGSW) - E8-3 (E1) 9 to 14 V - Reconnect the ECM connectors.
OK: Go to step 9
NG: Go to next step
- INSPECT FUSE (IG2 FUSE)
- Remove the IG2 fuse from the engine room junction block.
- Measure the fuse resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connector Condition Specified Condition IG2 fuse Always Below 1 Ω - Reinstall the fuse.
NG: REPLACE FUSE (IG2 FUSE)
- INSPECT IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the ignition switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Ignition Switch Position Specified Condition All Terminals LOCK 10 kΩ or higher 2-3 ACC Below 1 Ω 2 - 3 - 4, 6 - 7 ON 1 - 2 - 4, 6 - 7 - 8 START - Reconnect the ignition switch connector.
NG: REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EFI RELAY - ECM, EFI RELAY - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room junction block.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open)
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition E4-8 (MREL) -1 (EFI relay) Below 1 Ω 2 (EFI relay) - Body ground Below 1 Ω Standard resistance (Check for short)
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition E4-8 (MREL) or 1 (EFI relay) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Reinstall the EFI relay.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: REPLACE ECM
