On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT TRANSFER OIL 
    1. Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug and gasket.
    2. Check the oil level is within 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.20 in.) down from the lowest end of the hole for transfer case No. 1 plug.
      NOTE:
      • When changing oil, recheck the oil level after driving.
      • Excessively large or small quantity of oil may cause some trouble.

    3. When the oil level is too low, check for oil leakage.
    4. Tighten the transfer case No. 1 plug with a new gasket.

      Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf) 

  2. ADJUST TRANSFER OIL 
    1. Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug and gasket, and supply oil.
      NOTE:
      • When checking oil, make sure the vehicle is level.
      • When adding oil, pour it slowly.
      • Add oil gradually in several intervals.

      HINT:

      Within 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.20 in.) below the lower side of the No. 1 transfer case plug hole.

    2. After leaving it alone for 5 min., check the oil level again.
    3. Tighten the No. 1 transfer case plug with a new gasket.

      Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf)
