Inspection Procedure

HINT:
In case of using the hand-held tester, start the inspection from step 1 and in case of not using the hand-held tester, start from step 2.
- Check engine hood courtesy switch using hand-held tester.
PREPARATION:
Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
CHECK:
Check the engine hood courtesy switch using DATA LIST.
- OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
- NG: Go to next step
- Check engine hood courtesy switch.
PREPARATION:
- Remove the engine hood lock assembly.
- Disconnect the engine hood courtesy switch connector.
CHECK:
Check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 when the engine hood lock is locked and unlocked.
OK:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONEngine Hood Lock Tester Connection Specified Condition LOCK 1 - 2 10 kΩ or higher UNLOCK 1 - 2 Below 1 Ω Courtesy of © TOYOTA, LICENSE AGREEMENT TMS1002
- NG: Replace engine hood courtesy switch.
- OK: Go to next step
- Check wire harness and connector between body ECU and switch, and switch and body ground (See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE
).
- NG: Repair or replace wire harness and connector.
- OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on problem symptoms table (See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
