Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lexus SC 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSPECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY FRONT LH 
    1. Connect 3 batteries (1.5 V) in series.
    2. Connect the battery positive terminal to terminal SHB, and the negative one to terminal SHG to apply the voltage of 4.5 V between terminals SHB and SHG.
    3. While slowly move the link up and down with the voltage being applied, check the voltage between terminals SHFL and SHG.

    Standard: 

    HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY FRONT LH INSPECTION

    +45° (High) 4.5
    0° (Normal) 2.5
    -45° (Low) 0.5

    1. NG: REPLACE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY FRONT LH 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. INSPECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY REAR LH 
    1. Connect 3 batteries (1.5 V) in series.
    2. Connect the battery positive terminal to terminal SHB, and the negative one to terminal SHG to apply the voltage of 4.5 V between terminals SHB and SHG.
    3. While slowly move the link up and down with the voltage being applied, check the voltage between terminals SHFL and SHG.

    1. NG: REPLACE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY REAR LH 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Check for open and short circuit in harness and connector between headlamp leveling ECU and height control sensor.
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE HEADLAMP LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY
