Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota 4Runner. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check voltage between terminals TR and SG of A/C control assembly connector. 
    1. Preparation: 
      1. Remove A/C control assembly with connectors still connected, see AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM .
      2. Turn ignition switch to on.

    1. Check: 
    2. Check voltage between terminals TR and SG of A/C control assembly connector at each temperature.
    1. OK: 
      1. At 25°C (77°F): 1.8-2.2 V 
      2. At 40°C (104°F): 1.2-1.6 V 

    Hint:

    As the temperature increases, the voltage decreases.

    1. Go To Step 2 
    1. OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on problem symptoms table see  CIRCUIT INSPECTION  . However, if DTC 11 is displayed, check and replace A/C Control Assembly. 
  2. Check room temperature sensor. 
    1. PREPARATION: 
      1. Remove room temperature sensor from lower No. 1 Panel, see AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM .
      2. Disconnect room temperature sensor connector.

    1. CHECK K/ohms: 
    2. Check resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of room temperature sensor connector at each temperature.
    1. OK: 
      1. At 25°C (77°F): 1.6-1.8 k/ohms 
      2. At 40°C (104°F): 0.5-1.7 k/ohms 

    Hint:

    As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases.

    1. NG: Replace room temperature sensor. 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  3. Check harness and connector between A/C control assembly and room temperature sensor see  INTRODUCTION  . 
    1. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK: Check and replace A/C control assembly.
