DTC Troubleshooting

DTC P1970 TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action YES NO
Was "CVT System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to CVT SYSTEM CHECK .
Sensor power supply circuit check
  1. Turn off ignition switch and disconnect TCM connectors.
  2. Check for proper terminal connection to TCM connectors.
  3. If connections are OK, check that sensor power supply circuit (B1) is as follows:
    • Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between sensor power supply circuit and each terminal at solenoid connector.
    • Circuit voltage of sensor power supply circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Are they in good condition?
Go to Step 3. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
Sensor ground circuit check
  1. Turn off ignition switch and disconnect TCM and solenoid connectors.
  2. Check for proper terminal connection to TCM and solenoid connectors.
  3. If connections are OK, check that sensor ground circuit (B2) is as follows:
    • Insulation resistance of sensor ground circuit is infinity between solenoid connector and vehicle body ground.
    • Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between sensor ground circuit terminal and each terminal at solenoid connector.

Are they in good condition?
Go to Step 4. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
Primary pulley speed sensor and its circuit check
  1. Check primary pressure sensor and its circuit according to Step 2 through 4 of DTC P0842/P0843 .

Are they in good condition?
Go to Step 5. Repair or replace defective parts.
Secondary pulley speed sensor and its circuit check
  1. Check secondary pressure sensor and its circuit according to Step 2 through 4 of DTC P0847/P0848 .

Are they in good condition?
Go to Step 6. Repair or replace defective parts.
CVT fluid temperature and its circuit check
  1. Check CVT fluid temperature sensor and its circuit according to Step 2 through 3 of DTC P0711 .

Are they in good condition?
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck. Replace CVT fluid temperature sensor (valve body assembly).
