Front Seat Belt Inspection: Notes

Reference: FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION 

WARNING: Failure to take proper precautions when servicing seat belt components or attempting to disassemble or repair the seat belt pretensioner may cause personal injury.
  • Never measure the resistance of a seat belt pretensioner with a tester. Electric current from the tester may trigger activation of the seat belt pretensioner.

  • When placing a live seat belt pretensioner on a workbench or other flat surface, make sure that the pretensioner's exhaust hole (1) side faces upward.
  • Do not put anything on the exhaust hole (1) side of a live seat belt pretensioner. Also avoid placing one live air bag pretensioner on top of another.

CAUTION:
  • Never attempt to disassemble the seat belt pretensioner (retractor). If any abnormality is found, replace it with new one as an assembly.
  • Handle seat belt pretensioner so as not to drop it or give impact carefully. If it was dropped, replace with a new one even if there is no abnormal appearance. Also replace with a new one if any abnormality is found.

Seat belts and attaching parts can affect the vital components and systems of vehicle.

Therefore, they should be inspected carefully and replaced with genuine parts only.
