Gear Shift Control Lever and Cable Removal and Installation: Removal

WARNING:
To avoid getting burned, do not work on exhaust system when it is hot. Exhaust system must be completely cool before beginning any service on it.
- Remove air cleaner assembly, see AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove battery and battery tray, see ECM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove battery bracket.
- Remove center console box, see CENTER CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect cable ends (5) from pivot (6) of gear shift control lever assembly.
- Disconnect gear shift and gear select control cables (1) from gear shift control lever assembly (2) while pulling up quick joint (4).
- Remove gear shift control lever assembly nuts (3) and remove gear shift control lever assembly from floor panel.
- Remove clips of gear shift and gear select control cable, and then disconnect the cables from transaxle.
- Remove cable grommet bolts and cable clamp nut, and then remove gear shift and select control cables from floor panel.
