Exhaust Manifold Removal and Installation: Removal

CAUTION: Applying a shock to the exhaust manifold may cause damage to the three-way catalytic converter inside the exhaust manifold. Handle the exhaust manifold carefully. Be careful not to drop it or hit it against something.

Disconnect negative (-) cable from battery.
Remove exhaust manifold cover.
Disconnect A/F sensor connector (1) and HO2S connector (2), and then detach them from their brackets.

Remove right side engine undercover.
Remove exhaust manifold stiffener (1).
Remove exhaust pipe No. 1 (2).

Remove exhaust manifold and its gasket from cylinder head.
Remove A/F sensor and HO2S if necessary, see A/F SENSOR AND HO2S REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
