Battery Charging Failure

BATTERY CHARGING FAILURE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS CHART

Condition Possible Cause Action
Undercharged battery  Worn or damage accessory drive belt Replace accessory drive belt  , see ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Faulty one way clutch pulley Replace one way clutch pulley  , see GENERATOR DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY .
Loosen or corroded battery terminals Tighten battery terminals or replace battery  , see BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Faulty rectifier, rotor or IC regulator Repair or replace generator  , see GENERATOR DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY .
Overcharged battery  Faulty IC regulator Repair or replace generator  , see GENERATOR DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY .
