CVT Fluid Change
WARNING:
Spilling the CVT fluid on the exhaust system components may cause fire and personal injury.
- When changing the CVT fluid, be sure to observe the following precautions.
- Check the engine is at a stop.
- Do not carry out the CVT fluid filling operation over the exhaust system components so as not to adhere the CVT fluid on the exhaust system components even if you spill the CVT fluid.
- Be sure to remove the CVT fluid on the exhaust system components thoroughly after the exhaust manifold cools down if you spill the CVT fluid on the exhaust system components.
CAUTION:
Failure to take proper precautions when replacing CVT fluid can cause failure of the CVT.
- Do not use any fluid other than specified CVT fluid. Use of any fluid other than specified CVT fluid may cause juddering or some other faulty condition to occur.
- Do not overfill. Overfilling can cause foaming and loss of fluid through breather. Then slippage and transaxle failure can result.
- Replace CVT fluid when the CVT assembly is replaced and also when the vehicle has been driven under excessively high load.
NOTE:
CVT fluid does not drain completely.
- Hoist vehicle.
- Remove left side engine undercover.
- When engine is cool, remove CVT fluid drain plug (1) from CVT oil pan (2) and drain CVT fluid.
- Install CVT fluid drain plug (1) with new gasket and then tighten it to specified torque.
Tightening torque
CVT fluid drain plug (a): 34 N.m (3.5 kg-m, 25.0 lbf-ft)
- Lower vehicle and replenish proper amount of specified CVT fluid from fluid filler tube (2).

- Check CVT fluid level, see CVT FLUID CHECK .
- Check drain plug for CVT fluid leakage.
- Install left side engine undercover.
