Manual Transaxle Unit Dismounting and Remounting: Dismounting

- Remove battery, battery tray with ECM and battery bracket, see BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove clutch fluid pipe, see CLUTCH FLUID PIPE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect back up light switch connector and release wiring harness clamps.
- Disconnect gear shift and gear select control cables (1) from transaxle, see GEAR SHIFT CONTROL LEVER AND CABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove ground cable from transaxle.
- Remove engine undercovers.
- Drain transaxle oil. see MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL CHANGE
- Remove exhaust pipe, see EXHAUST SYSTEM COMPONENTS .
- Remove starting motor, see STARTING MOTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove drive shaft assembly and drive intermediate shaft, see FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION / DRIVE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove front bumper, see FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Open engine hood as wide as possible and hold it by using rope.
- Hang up engine with chain (1) so that engine does not tilt.
- Remove front suspension frame, see FRONT SUSPENSION FRAME COMPONENTS .
- Support transaxle with transmission jack.
- Remove transaxle-to-engine bolts (1) of upper side.
- Remove engine left mounting (1) and engine left mounting bracket (2).
- Remove engine front mounting and engine front mounting bracket, see ENGINE MOUNTINGS COMPONENTS .
- Remove engine rear mounting, engine rear mounting bracket No. 1 and engine rear mounting bracket No. 2, see ENGINE MOUNTINGS COMPONENTS .
- Remove clutch housing lower plate, see OIL PAN AND OIL PUMP STRAINER COMPONENTS .
- Remove transaxle-to-engine bolts (1) and nut (2) of lower side, and then lower transaxle.
