Steering Wheel Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Set steering wheel in straight-ahead position.
  2. Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
  3. Disable air bag system, see DISABLING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  4. Remove driver air bag (inflator) module from steering wheel, see DRIVER AIR BAG (INFLATOR) MODULE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Disconnect steering switch connector.
  6. Remove steering wheel nut and put matchmark (1) on steering wheel and shaft.

  7. Remove steering wheel using special tool (A).
