CHARGING INDICATOR LIGHT SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS CHART

Condition	Possible Cause	Action
Charging indicator light does not light up with ignition ON and engine off	Blown fuse	Replace fuse .
	Faulty CAN communication line	Repair or replace CAN communication line , see CAN DTC (LOST COMMUNICATION AND COMMUNICATION BUS OFF) TABLE .
	Faulty combination meter	Replace combination meter , see INSTRUMENT PANEL DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY .
	Faulty BCM	Check BCM , see INSPECTION OF BCM AND ITS CIRCUITS .
	Faulty wiring	Repair wiring .
	Faulty IC regulator or field coil	Repair or replace generator , see Generator Disassembly and Reassembly .
Charging indicator light does not light up with engine running (battery requires frequent recharging)	Worn or damage accessory drive belt	Replace accessory drive belt , see Accessory Drive Belt Removal and Installation .
	Faulty IC regulator or generator	Replace generator , see Generator Removal and Installation .
	Faulty wiring	Repair wiring .
