Handling HFC-134a (R-134a) Refrigerant and Specified Compressor Oil
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
Handle the HFC-134a (R-134a) refrigerant with care as follows. If not, it may cause severe injury such as blindness and frostbite.
- Do not expose the refrigerant to skin and eyes. Wear safety glasses and gloves. If the refrigerant is exposed to skin or eyes, get medical attention immediately.
- Keep the refrigerant away from fire. High temperature may result in fire.
- Do not heat the refrigerant container over 35 °C (95 °F). Otherwise, the container may cause explosion.
- Select a well-ventilated area so as not to absorb the refrigerant.
CAUTION:
Do not expose bright metals to liquid refrigerant. Refrigerant combined with moisture is corrosive and tarnishes surfaces of bright metals including chrome.
NOTE:
- Do not discharge HFC-134a (R-134a) refrigerant into atmosphere.
- The specified compressor oil of HFC-134a (R-134a) is highly hygroscopic.
Keep internal parts of air conditioning free from moisture and dirt. When disconnecting any line from system, install a blind plug or cap to the fitting immediately.
- If pipes or hoses are replaced, replenish A/C compressor with specified amount of compressor oil from suction side referring to "REPLENISHING COMPRESSOR OIL " in Operation Procedure for Refrigerant Charge .
