Front Strut Assembly Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Hoist vehicle, allowing front suspension to hang free.
  2. Remove front wheels, see WHEEL (WITH TIRE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. While holding ball stud of stabilizer bar joint (1) using hexagon wrench, remove stabilizer bar joint nut (2) and then remove stabilizer bar joint.
    CAUTION: Do not cause scratch or any other damage to ball stud boot (3) of stabilizer bar joint.

  4. Detach the following parts from strut bracket (5): brake hose (2) (by removing brake hose bolt (1)) and wheel speed sensor harness (3).
  5. Remove strut bracket bolts and nuts.

  6. Remove front fender cover, see FRONT FENDER COVER/COWL TOP GARNISH REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Remove strut support nuts (1), then remove front strut assembly.
    NOTE: Hold strut assembly by hand so that it will not fall off.
