Cruise Control System Symptom Diagnosis

NOTE:

Perform cruise control system check. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK before performing this Cruise Control System Symptom Diagnosis.
Check each part in the order from the top of the following list.

CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM SYMPTOM CHART

Condition	Possible Cause	Action
"CRUISE" or "SET" indicator light does not turn ON or OFF	Faulty MAIN (ON/OFF) switch	Check MAIN (ON/OFF) switch for function. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty SET/COAST switch	Check SET/COAST switch for function. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty brake light switch	Check brake light switch for function. Refer to BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty wiring or grounding	Repair .
	Faulty ECM	Replace after making sure that none of above parts is faulty .
Vehicle speed can not be set	Faulty MAIN (ON/OFF) switch	Check MAIN (ON/OFF) switch for function. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty SET/COAST switch	Check SET/COAST switch for function. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty brake light switch	Check brake light switch for function. Refer to BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty CPP switch (M/T model)	Check CPP switch for function. Refer to CPP SWITCH (FOR CRUISE CONTROL) INSPECTION .
	Faulty wiring or grounding	Repair .
	Faulty ECM	Replace after making sure that none of above parts is faulty .
Acceleration or deceleration is not available by using RES/ACC or SET/COAST switch	Faulty RES/ACC or SET/COAST switch	Check RES/ACC or SET/COAST switch for function. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty wiring or grounding	Repair .
	Faulty ECM	Replace after making sure that none of above parts is faulty .
Cruise control cannot be canceled	Faulty CANCEL switch	Check CANCEL switch for function. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty brake light switch	Check brake light switch for function. Refer to BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty CPP switch (M/T model)	Check CPP switch for function. Refer to CPP SWITCH (FOR CRUISE CONTROL) INSPECTION .
	Faulty wiring or grounding	Repair .
	Faulty ECM	Replace after making sure that none of above parts is faulty .
Cruise control at vehicle speed stored in memory cannot be resumed after cruise control was canceled by means other than MAIN (ON/OFF) switch	Faulty RES/ACC switch	Check RES/ACC switch for function. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH INSPECTION .
	Faulty wiring or grounding	Repair .
	Faulty ECM	Replace after making sure that none of above parts is faulty .
