EVAP Canister Purge Valve Inspection
WARNING:
If vacuum is applied using your mouth, there is a risk of inhaling harmful fuel vapor.
Be sure to use a hand vacuum pump to apply vacuum.

NOTE:
If too high a vacuum is applied, the EVAP canister purge valve may be damaged. Do not exceed a vacuum of -86 kPa (-12.47 psi).
- With ignition switch turned to OFF, disconnect connector and vacuum hoses from EVAP canister purge valve.
- Remove purge valve.
- Check resistance between two terminals of purge valve (1).
If faulty condition is found, replace purge valve.
EVAP canister resistance
22 - 26 Ω at 20 °C (68 °F)
- Check purge valve operation as follows.
If faulty condition is found, replace purge valve.
- Install special tool and vacuum hose (2) to purge valve (1).
Special Tool
(A): 09917-47011
- Check that vacuum of -60 kPa (-0.6 kgf/cm2 ,-8.7 psi, -0.6 bar) can be applied to purge valve when 12 V battery is not connected to purge valve terminals.
- Check that no vacuum can be applied to purge valve when 12 V battery is connected to purge valve terminals.
- Install special tool and vacuum hose (2) to purge valve (1).
