Fuel System Inspection: Troubleshooting

1	Fuel pump inspection Remove fuel filler cap and turn ignition switch to ON position. Confirm that fuel pump operating sound is heard from fuel filler port for about 2 sec. and then it stops. Is it in good condition?	Go to Step 2.	Check fuel pump circuit. Refer to Fuel Pump and Its Circuit Check .
2	Fuel pressure check Check fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Check . Is it in good condition?	Go to Step 3.	Repair or replace defective part.
3	Power balance test Check power balance. Refer to Power Balance Test . Is it in good condition?	Fuel system is in good condition.	Go to Step 4.
4	Fuel injector circuit check Check fuel injector circuit. Refer to Fuel Injector Circuit Check . Is it in good condition?	Go to Step 5	Repair or replace defective part.
5	Fuel injector check Check fuel injector. Refer to Fuel Injector Inspection . Is it in good condition?	Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. Refer to ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .	Replace fuel injector.
