DTC Troubleshooting

DTC P1818 TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action YES NO
Was "CVT System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to CVT SYSTEM CHECK .
DTC check 
  1. Check DTC related to CAN communication.

Is there any CAN-DTC(s) detected? 
Go to troubleshooting for applicable DTC. Go to Step 3.
Primary pulley speed sensor and its circuit check 
  1. Check primary pulley speed sensor and its circuit according to Step 3 through 4 of DTC P0717 .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 4. Repair or replace defective parts.
Secondary pulley speed sensor and its circuit check 
  1. Check secondary pulley speed sensor and its circuit according to Step 3 through 4 of DTC P0722 .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 5. Repair or replace defective parts.
Stepper motor check 
  1. Check stepper motor and its circuit according to Step 2 through 3 of DTC P1816 .

Are they in good condition? 
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck. Repair or replace defective wire harness. If MIL still remains on, replace stepper motor (valve body assembly).
