Key Interlock Cable Removal and Installation: Removal

Disable air bag system.
- Except advanced air bag model: See DISABLING AIR BAG SYSTEM
- Advanced air bag model: See DISABLING AIR BAG SYSTEM
Remove steering column hole cover.
Remove steering column cover. See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN COMPONENTS
Turn ignition switch to "ACC" position.
Remove knee protector plate (if equipped).
Pull out key interlock cable (1) from key cylinder cover (2) while pressing check hook with flat-head screwdriver (3) or the like.

Turn ignition switch to "LOCK" position.
Remove console box. See CONSOLE BOX COMPONENTS
Detach cable end (1) from interlock cam (2) while pressing claws (3) of interlock cam boss. At this time, be careful not to cause damage to its claws.
Detach cable casing cap (4) from selector bracket (5) while pressing check hook.
Remove interlock cable.
