Precautions for Handling of Front Strut

WARNING: Since a high-pressure gas is sealed inside each front strut (1), there is a risk of personal injury if you do not take proper precautions when handling them.
  • Do not disassemble any strut.
  • Do not put a strut into any fire.
  • Do not store a strut where it gets hot.
  • Before disposing of a strut, be sure to drill an approximately 3 mm (0.12 in.) diameter hole (2) in it at the point indicated by the arrow in the figure and let the gas and oil out of the cylinder.
  • Be sure to wear eye protection when drilling a gas release hole. Although the gas itself is harmless, metal chips produced by the drilling can injure your eyes.
