P/S Pump Removal and Installation: Removal
CAUTION:
The P/S pump may lose its original performance if it is disassembled and reassembled. Do not try to disassemble and repair the P/S pump. Replace it with a new one.
NOTE:
Be sure to clean each joint of suction and discharge sides thoroughly before removal.
- Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
- Take out P/S fluid in reservoir with syringe or such.
- Remove engine cover. See AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Disconnect IMT valve actuator connector. See IMT VALVE ACTUATOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Disconnect fuel injector connector for cylinder No. 1. See FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Disconnect high pressure pipe (1) and suction hose (2) from power steering pump (3).

NOTE: As fluid flows out of disconnected joints, put a receptacle under joints or a plug to pipe. - Disconnect pressure switch lead wire at switch terminal.
- Remove accessory drive belt referring to ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove P/S pump mounting bolts (1) and then remove P/S pump.
NOTE: Plug each port of removed pump to prevent dust or any other foreign matter from entering.
- If necessary, detach engine harness clamps at engine.
