Front Seat Belt Inspection: Notes
Reference: FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
WARNING:
Failure to take proper precautions when servicing seat belt components or attempting to disassemble or repair the seat belt pretensioner (retractor) may cause personal injury.
- If any abnormality is found with the seat belt pretensioner (retractor), never attempt to disassemble or repair it but replace both the seat belt and buckle with a new replacement set.
- Read PRECAUTIONS ON SERVICE AND DIAGNOSIS OF SEAT BELT before starting service operations and follow all of the instructions provided.
- Never measure the resistance of a seat belt pretensioner (retractor) with a tester. Electric current from the tester may trigger activation of the pretensioner (retractor).
CAUTION:
If a seat belt pretensioner (retractor) is dropped from a height of about 30 cm (1 ft) or more, it may not work normally. If a seat belt pretensioner (retractor) is dropped from a height of about 30 cm (1 ft) or more, replace both the seat belt and buckle with a new replacement set.
Seat belts and attaching parts can affect the vital components and systems of a vehicle.
Therefore, they should be inspected carefully and replaced with genuine parts only.
