Front Seat Belt Inspection: Notes

Reference: FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

WARNING: Failure to take proper precautions when servicing seat belt components or attempting to disassemble or repair the seat belt pretensioner (retractor) may cause personal injury.

If any abnormality is found with the seat belt pretensioner (retractor), never attempt to disassemble or repair it but replace both the seat belt and buckle with a new replacement set.
Read PRECAUTIONS ON SERVICE AND DIAGNOSIS OF SEAT BELT before starting service operations and follow all of the instructions provided.
Never measure the resistance of a seat belt pretensioner (retractor) with a tester. Electric current from the tester may trigger activation of the pretensioner (retractor).

CAUTION: If a seat belt pretensioner (retractor) is dropped from a height of about 30 cm (1 ft) or more, it may not work normally. If a seat belt pretensioner (retractor) is dropped from a height of about 30 cm (1 ft) or more, replace both the seat belt and buckle with a new replacement set.

Seat belts and attaching parts can affect the vital components and systems of a vehicle.

Therefore, they should be inspected carefully and replaced with genuine parts only.
