SDM Inspection

Reference: SDM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION: EXCEPT ADVANCED AIR BAG

WARNING: If the SDM is handled roughly when performing the service operations described below, there is a risk of personal injury due to accidental activation of the air bag system.
Be sure to read PRECAUTIONS ON SERVICE AND DIAGNOSIS OF AIR BAG SYSTEM: EXCEPT ADVANCED AIR BAG before starting the operations described below and follow all of the instructions provided.

CAUTION: The SDM may not function properly if you do not handle it carefully.

Do not connect any type of tester to the SDM.
Never try to repair or disassemble the SDM.
Replace the SDM if it has been dropped.

If any faulty condition is found in the following checks, replace.

Check SDM and SDM plate for dents, cracks or deformation.
Check SDM connector for damage, cracks or lock mechanism.
Check SDM terminal for bend, corrosion or rust.
