Enabling Air Bag System

  1. Confirm that battery negative (-) cable is disconnected.
  2. Turn ignition switch to "LOCK" position and remove key.
  3. Connect yellow connector (1) of driver air bag (inflator) module by pushing connector till click is heard from it.

  4. Connect yellow connector (1) of passenger air bag (inflator) module by pushing connector till click is heard from it.

  5. Install driver and passenger side front pillar lower trim.
  6. Connect yellow connector (1) of side-air bag (inflator) module by pushing connector till click is heard from it.

  7. Connect connector of rear side-air bag (inflator) module as follows.

    For hatchback model: 

    1. Install rear side-air bag. See Rear Side-Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation .

    For sedan model: 

    1. Connect black connector (1).
    2. Lock connector with lock button (2).

    3. Install rear seat side back. See REAR SEAT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  8. Connect connector of side curtain-air bag (inflator) module and then install each trim as follows.

    For hatchback model: 

    1. Connect yellow connector (1) by pushing connector till click is heard from it.

    2. Install right-side rear quarter lower trim.

    For sedan model: 

    1. Connect black connector (1).
    2. Lock connector with lock button (2).
    3. Install rear pillar inner trim.

    4. Install seat cushion and seat back referring to REAR SEAT COMPONENTS
  9. Install "A/B" fuse to fuse box.
  10. Connect negative (-) cable at battery.
  11. Turn ignition switch to ON position and verify that "AIR BAG" warning light flashes 6 times and then turns OFF. If it does not operate as described, perform AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK: ADVANCED AIR BAG .
