Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure

CAUTION:
Never perform this work when engine is hot. Doing so may cause adverse effect to catalyst.
NOTE:
If ECM detects DTC(s) after servicing, clear DTC(s). See DTC CLEARANCE
- Make sure that engine is cold.
- For M/T model, place gear shift lever in "Neutral" and apply parking brake and block drive wheels.
For CVT model, place select lever in "P" and apply parking brake and block drive wheels.
- Disconnect fuel pump relay (1) from relay/fuse box No. 1 (2).
- Remove fuel filler cap in order to release fuel vapor pressure in fuel tank, and then reinstall it.
- Start engine and run it until engine stops for lack of fuel. Repeat cranking engine 2 - 3 times for about 3 sec. each time to dissipate fuel pressure in lines. Fuel connections are now safe for servicing.
- After servicing, connect fuel pump relay (1) to relay/fuse box No. 1 and install relay/fuse box cover.
