Water Pump Removal and Installation: Removal

- Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
- Drain coolant, see Cooling System Draining .
- Remove accessory drive belt. See ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT TENSION INSPECTION
- Remove front bumper. See FRONT BUMPER AND REAR BUMPER COMPONENTS
- Remove condenser cooling fan.
- Manual A/C model: See CONDENSER COOLING FAN REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Remove oil level gauge and oil level gauge guide. See OIL PAN AND OIL PUMP STRAINER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Remove exhaust manifold. See EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- With hose connected, detach A/C compressor from cylinder block.
- Manual A/C model: See COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Auto A/C model: See COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Disconnect radiator outlet hose from water pump.
- Remove inlet pipe (2) from water pump (1) and cylinder block.
- Remove water pump (1) from cylinder block.
