Front Drive Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation: Installation

CAUTION:

Be careful not to damage oil seals and boots when installing drive shaft.
Do not hit joint boot with hammer. Inserting joint only by hands is allowed.
Make sure that differential side joint is inserted fully and its circlip is seated as it was.

Reverse removal procedure for installation noting the following.

Use new cotter pin.
Use new drive shaft nut.
For 2WD model, tighten center bearing support bolts as follows.
1. Tighten center bearing support bolts in numerical order ("1" - "3") by hand.
2. In the same manner as Step a. retighten them to specified torque.
  Tightening torque
  
  Center bearing support bolt* (a): 50 N.m (5.1 kg-m, 37.0 lbf-ft) ((2WD-M/T model))
  
  Center bearing support bolt* (a): 55 N.m (5.6 kg-m, 40.5 lbf-ft) ((2WD-CVT model))

Tighten suspension arm ball joint bolts to specified torque. See FRONT WHEEL HUB, STEERING KNUCKLE AND WHEEL BEARING REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Tighten tie-rod end nuts to specified torque.
- Hydraulic P/S model: See TIE-ROD END REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

Tighten stabilizer joint nuts and brake hose mounting bolts to specified torque. See FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Tighten drive shaft nuts to specified torque and caulk drive shaft nut. See FRONT WHEEL HUB, STEERING KNUCKLE AND WHEEL BEARING REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Tighten front wheel speed sensor bolts to specified torque.

Tighten wheel nuts to specified torque. See WHEEL (WITH TIRE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Fill transaxle with oil.
- M/T model: See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL CHANGE .
- CVT model: See CVT FLUID CHANGE .
For 4WD model, fill transfer with oil. See TRANSFER OIL CHANGE .
Tighten and caulk drive shaft nut. See FRONT WHEEL HUB, STEERING KNUCKLE AND WHEEL BEARING REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Check toe setting referring to FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT and adjust as required.
