Fuel Tank Inlet Valve Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Remove fuel filler cap.
  2. Insert hose of a hand operated pump into fuel filler hose (1) and drain fuel in space "A" shown in figure.
    WARNING: There is a risk of fire or explosion if the drained fuel is stored in an inappropriate container. Avoid using an open container to hold the fuel.
    CAUTION: The hose of the hand-operated pump could damage the fuel tank inlet valve if too much force is used when inserting it into the fuel filler hose. Do not apply too strong a force when inserting the pump hose into the fuel filler hose.

  3. Hoist vehicle, and disconnect fuel tank harness connector (1).
  4. Remove clamps (2) and fuel filler hose (3) from fuel tank.

  5. Remove fuel tank inlet valve (2) using flat-end screwdriver (1) or the like.
    CAUTION: If you are not careful when removing the fuel tank inlet valve (1), you can damage it. Be careful not to damage the fuel tank inlet valve when using the flat head rod or other tool.
