Warning Light, Indicator Light, Information Display Description

There are five types of warning light, indicator light and information display in instrument cluster, which are controlled by ESP® control module. They give warning/indication to driver by changing the modes light ON/blinking/light OFF, and also show the warning/indication message up on the information display at the same time.

The followings are the condition and operation of warning lights and indicator lights.

Warning light/Indicator light Condition and operation
ABS warning light If ABS has abnormality, the light turns "ON".
EBD warning light (brake warning light)
  • If EBD system has abnormality, the light turns "ON".
  • If brake fluid level in reservoir is lower than minimum level, the light turns "ON".
  • Parking brake switch is ON, the light turns "ON".
ESP® warning light
  • If stability control system, hill descent control (if equipped) or traction control system is active, the light blinks at 5 Hz.
  • If abnormality in ESP® system is detected, the light turns "ON".
ESP® OFF light
  • If ESP® OFF switch is turned ON, the ESP® control module lights the ESP® OFF light and controls the traction and stability control systems not to work. However, when the vehicle speed is over 30 km/h (18.5 mph), ESP® OFF light is turned "OFF" and traction control system and stability control system functions are back to work automatically.
  • When transfer shift switch is in 4L-lock position, the ESP® OFF light lights up to indicate engine torque down and stability control system in traction control system are controlled not to activate to increase the driving force.

    However, the brake-traction control works while ESP® OFF light lights up.

  • ESP® OFF light lights up to indicate that traction control function is controlled not to act if brake pad temperature is over 350 °C (662 °F) and any of wheel is in wheel spin condition.
  • If steering angle sensor calibration is incomplete, the light turns "ON".
Hill descent control indicator light (if equipped)
  • When hill descent control switch is turned "ON" and all the following vehicle conditions is satisfied, hill descent control function is activated and hill descent control indicator light is "ON".
    • The transfer switch is in the "4HL" or "4LL" position
    • The gearshift lever is in the "forward" or "reverse" position
    • The vehicle speed is 25 km/h (15 mph) or less.
    • The DTC(s) for hill descent control function has not been detected.
  • When hill descent control switch is turned "ON" and the vehicle condition is other than these above, hill descent control indicator light is blinks.

The followings are the condition and display color of message.

Message Display color Condition
SERVICE ESP SYSTEM Orange When ESP® control module detected DTC
However, message is not displayed in the following conditions.
  • DTC C1016, C1027, C1037, C1065, C1075, C1076, C1077 or C1078 is detected.
  • Abnormality in yaw rate/G sensor power supply is detected.
ESP OFF SWITCH WORKS ONLY IN 4HL White When ESP® OFF switch pushed with transfer shift position at "4H"
HILL HOLD DISABLED Orange When the trouble that relates to hill hold control occurs
MAINTENANCE MODE ACTIVE Orange When ESP® function is deactivated by using SUZUKI scan tool
