Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation: Installation

  1. Refer to Step 1) of Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation  to install hub bolts since the rear wheel hub assembly is the same as the front wheel hub assembly.
  2. Apply grease to end face of inner ring (2) before rear wheel hub (1) installation.
    NOTE: If the encoder section of the wheel bearing is contaminated with grease, the wheel speed sensor may not sense the wheel speed correctly.
    Avoid applying grease to the encoder section of the wheel bearing.

    "A": Grease 99000-25011 (SUZUKI Super Grease A)

  3. Install rear wheel hub assembly and tighten rear wheel hub housing bolts (1) to specified torque.

    Tightening torque 

    Rear wheel hub housing bolt (a): 50 N.m (5.0 kgf-m, 36.5 lbf-ft)

  4. Install rear brake disc and brake caliper. Refer to REAR BRAKE DISC REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Pull up parking brake lever fully and tighten new rear drive shaft nut (1) to specified torque.

    Tightening torque 

    Rear drive shaft nut (a): 220 N.m (22.0 kgf-m, 159.5 lbf-ft) 

  6. Caulk rear drive shaft nut (1).
    NOTE: If you are not careful when caulking the drive shaft nut, you can damage it. Be careful not to damage the drive shaft nut when caulking it. If you damage the nut, replace it with a new one.

  7. Adjust parking brake cable. Refer to PARKING BRAKE INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT .
  8. Install rear wheel and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque. Refer to WHEEL (WITH TIRE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Check to ensure that brake drum is free from dragging and proper braking is obtained.
  10. Perform brake test (foot brake and parking brake).
