Parking Brake Backing Plate: Service and Repair
Brake Back Plate Removal and Installation
Removal
1) Hoist vehicle and remove rear wheel.
2) Remove rear brake disc. Rear Brake Disc Removal and Installation
3) Remove parking brake shoe. Service and Repair
4) Remove drive shaft nut and rear wheel hub. Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation
5) Remove parking brake cable cap nut (1) and parking brake cable (2).
6) Remove back plate (3).
7) Remove parking brake anchor nut (4) from back plate.
8) Remove parking brake anchor bolt (1).
9) Remove parking brake anchor (2) from back plate (3).
Installation
NOTE:
If parking brake anchor nut is reused, apply engine oil to thread and bearing surface.
Install back plate by reversing removal procedure, noting the following points.
- Tighten all fasteners to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Parking brake anchor bolt (a): 12 Nm (1.2 kgf-m, 9.0 lbf-ft)
Parking brake anchor nut (b): 200 Nm (20.4 kgf-m, 147.5 lbf-ft)
Parking brake cable cap nut (c): 11 Nm (1.12 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft)
- Upon completion of all jobs, adjust parking brake cable. Adjustments
