EXTENDED STORAGE SWITCH AND BCM TRANSIT MODE

CONDITION
Vehicle has been prepared for extended storage periods and transport.
CAUSE
To prevent unnecessary draw on the battery during dealer storage and transport periods, the Extended Storage Switch has been placed in the "Inventory Position" and the BCM has been initialized to the "Transit Mode".
CORRECTION
Both the Extended Storage Switch and the BCM are to be put into the "In Service" conditions at the time of customer delivery.

EXTENDED STORAGE SWITCH
Vehicles will be delivered to the dealer with the Extended Storage Switch set to the "Inventory Position" (fuse disengaged) as shown in Figures 1 and 2 below.
The Extended Storage Switch should be set to the "Inventory Position" while the vehicle is being stored at the dealer.
Operating the Extended Storage Switch
Make sure the ignition is OFF before changing the Extended Storage Switch position.

Systems Impacted by Extended Storage Switch in "Inventory Position"
Items in this table will not operate or have limited operation when the Extended Storage Switch is in the "Inventory Position" (fuse disengaged).

BCM TRANSIT MODE
Vehicles will be delivered to the dealer with the BCM in the "Transit Mode". The BCM should remain in the "Transit Mode" until the vehicle is sold and delivered to the customer.
Determining Transit Mode Status
- Transit Mode - When the ignition is turned from OFF to ON the turn signal indicators will illuminate (light up) for 1 minute.
- In Service Mode (not in transit mode) - When the ignition is turned from OFF to ON the turn signal indicators stay OFF (do not illuminate),
Cancelling Transit Mode
- Turn the ignition OFF.
- Do the following at the same time for 2 seconds:
Systems Impacted by BCM in Transit Mode
With the ignition ON, all BCM functions operate when in Transit Mode. Items in this table will not work with the ignition OFF when the BCM is in Transit Mode.
