Installation Procedure

CAUTION:
Engine camshaft timing drive system has 2 different designs. Prior to performing repair procedures, refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING DRIVE DESIGN IDENTIFICATION . Ensure engine is in the correct stage (one or two).
NOTE:
- Ensure that the marks on the camshaft position actuator and the timing chain (1-4) are aligned.
- DO NOT tighten the camshaft position actuator bolt at this time.
- Locate the camshafts to the cylinder head and assemble the camshaft actuators to the camshafts.
- Install the camshafts and the camshaft bearing caps. Refer to CAMSHAFT INSTALLATION - LEFT SIDE .
- Remove the EN 46108.
CAUTION: Refer to TORQUE REACTION AGAINST TIMING DRIVE CHAIN NOTICE .NOTE: Use an open-end wrench at the camshaft hex to prevent camshaft/engine rotation.
- Install and tighten the camshaft position actuators. Refer to CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR INSTALLATION - LEFT SIDE INTAKE (THIRD DESIGN) , CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR INSTALLATION - LEFT SIDE INTAKE (FOURTH DESIGN) , CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR INSTALLATION - LEFT SIDE EXHAUST (THIRD DESIGN) and CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR INSTALLATION - LEFT SIDE EXHAUST (FOURTH DESIGN) .
- Install the intake camshaft position actuator solenoid. Refer to INSTALLATION PROCEDURE .
- Install the camshaft sensors. Refer to INSTALLATION PROCEDURE and INSTALLATION PROCEDURE .
- Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to CRANKSHAFT BALANCER INSTALLATION .
- Install the camshaft cover. Refer to INSTALLATION PROCEDURE .
- Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to INSTALLATION PROCEDURE .
