Ping, Snap, or Click Noise

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE - PING, SNAP, OR CLICK NOISE CAUSES

Cause Correction
A ping, snap, or click is usually heard on initial load after the transmission is in gear, either forward or reverse.
Upper and lower control arms have loose bushing bolts. Tighten bolts to specified torque. Refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS - PROPELLER SHAFT .
A loose fixed yoke or companion flange Tighten bolts and pinion nut to specified torque. Refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS - PROPELLER SHAFT .
Worn or damaged universal joints Replace universal joints. Refer to PROPELLER SHAFT REPLACEMENT .
