Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement

INSTRUMENT PANEL TIE BAR TABLE

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
Fastener Tightening Specifications: Refer to  FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS - INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE TRIM  . Preliminary Procedures 
  1. Remove the steering column. Refer to REMOVAL PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the instrument panel retainer. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL RETAINER REPLACEMENT .
  3. Remove the center air outlet duct. Refer to REMOVAL PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the windshield defroster duct. Refer to REMOVAL PROCEDURE .
1 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to HVAC Module Assembly Nuts (Qty: 2)
Tightening torque 
4 N.m (36 lb in) 
2 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to HVAC Module Assembly Nut (Qty: 1)
Tightening torque 
4 N.m (36 lb in) 
Tip:  This nut is driven from front of vehicle rearward.
3 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to HVAC Module Assembly Bolts (Qty: 5)
Tightening torque 
4 N.m (36 lb in) 
4 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolts (Qty: 2)
Tightening torque 
25 N.m (18 lb ft) 
5 Instrument Panel Tie Bar nuts (Qty: 6)
Tightening torque 
9 N.m (80 lb in) 
6 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly
Procedures 
  1. Note location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness and ground straps prior to removal to ensure proper reinstallation.
  2. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness and ground straps from the tie bar assembly.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, lift the tie bar assembly straight up and then rearward removing the tie bar assembly from the vehicle.
