Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Suzuki XL7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the instrument panel cluster.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 Ω of resistance between the ground circuit and ground.
    • If greater than 1 Ω, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit and the ground circuit.
  4. Turn the high beam headlamps ON and OFF. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
    • If the test lamp remains ON all the time, test for a short to voltage on the control circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
    • If the test lamp remains OFF all the time, test for a short to ground or an open/high resistance on the control circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the instrument panel cluster.
