DTC Troubleshooting

P0456 DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step Action YES NO
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK:J24B .
Fuel filler cap check 
  1. Check fuel filler cap is SUZUKI genuine parts and tightness.
  2. Check fuel filler cap gasket for uneven filler neck imprint, foreign material pinched and damage.

Is result satisfactory? 
Go to Step 3. Replace fuel filler cap with new genuine one.
Pressurization test 
  1. Perform pressurization test, see EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK INSPECTION .

Is any leak detected? 
Go to Step 4. Go to Step 7.
Smoke test 
  1. Perform smoke test, see EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM SMOKE TEST .

Is there any leak part? 
Repair leaking and then go to Step 3 again. Go to Step 5.
EVAP canister purge valve check 
  1. Check EVAP canister purge valve, see EVAP CANISTER PURGE SYSTEM INSPECTION .

Is check result satisfactory? 
Go to Step 6. Replace EVAP canister purge valve.
EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor check 
  1. Check EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor in EVAP leak check module, see EVAP LEAK CHECK MODULE INSPECTION .

Is check result satisfactory? 
Return to Step 3. Replace EVAP leak check module.
EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor check 
  1. Check EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor in EVAP leak check module see, EVAP LEAK CHECK MODULE INSPECTION .

Is check result satisfactory? 
Go to Step 8. Replace EVAP leak check module.
Fuel level sensor and Its circuit check 
  1. Check fuel level sensor and its circuit, see DTC P0461: Fuel Level Sensor "A" Circuit Performance .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 9. Repair or replace defective parts or wire harness.
EVAP leak check 
  1. Replace EVAP leak check module.
  2. Connect scan tool to DLC and clear DTC.
  3. Run engine at idle for 10 minutes.
  4. Confirm that DTC is no detected.
  5. Turn OFF ignition switch and leave for 6 hours.
  6. Recheck DTC.

Is DTC P0456 detected? 
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. End.
