DTC Troubleshooting

P0011 DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step Action YES NO
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK:J24B .
DTC check 
  1. Check DTC.

Is there DTC(s) other than P0011 and P0012? 
Go to applicable DTC (s). Go to Step 3.
OCV drive circuit and OCV ground circuit check 
  1. Check OCV drive circuit and OCV ground circuit referring to Step 2 of DTC P0010  .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 4. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
Oil pressure check 
  1. Check oil pressure, see OIL PRESSURE CHECK .

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 5. Repair or replace defective parts.
OCV oil circuit visual check 
  1. Remove cylinder head cover, see CYLINDER HEAD COVER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Check oil pressure leakage from OCV oil circuit.

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 6. Repair or replace defective parts.
CKP sensor and sensor plate check 
  1. Check CKP sensor and sensor plate.

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 7. Repair or replace defective parts.
CMP sensor and signal rotor check 
  1. Check CMP sensor and signal rotor, see CMP (CAMSHAFT POSITION) SENSOR INSPECTION .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 8. Repair or replace defective parts.
OCV check 
  1. Remove OCV, see .
  2. Check OCV for clogging or sludge.

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 9. Repair or replace OCV.
OCV check 
  1. Check OCV, see OCV (OIL CONTROL VALVE) INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 10. Replace OCV.
10  CMP actuator check 
  1. Check CMP actuator, see CAMSHAFT AND TAPPET INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 11. Replace CMP actuator.
11  Valve timing check 
  1. Check valve timing, see TIMING CHAIN AND CHAIN TENSIONER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

Is it in good condition? 
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. Adjust valve timing.
