Fuel Pump On-Vehicle Inspection

WARNING: When performing the following procedure, be sure to observe PRECAUTIONS FOR FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE  to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury.
NOTE: Fuel pressure regulator is incorporated with fuel pump assembly so individual inspection of it is impossible.
  1. Remove fuel filler cap and turn ignition switch (2) to ON position. Then fuel pump operating sound should be heard from fuel filler (1) for about 2 seconds. Be sure to reinstall fuel filler cap after checking.

    If check result is not satisfactory, go to FUEL PUMP AND ITS CIRCUIT CHECK .

  2. Turn OFF ignition switch and leave it for 10 min. as it is.
  3. Fuel pressure should be felt at fuel feed hose (1) for about 2 seconds after turning ignition switch to ON position.

    If fuel pressure is not felt, go to FUEL PRESSURE BASIC CHECK .
