Power Balance Test
CAUTION:
Never increase engine speed higher than idling speed when power balance test has been performed. It could damage the engine.
NOTE:
For identification of each cylinder, refer to PRECAUTIONS FOR IDENTIFICATION OF CYLINDER

- For 4 A/T model, place select lever in "P" and apply parking brake.
For 5 M/T model, place gear shift lever in "Neutral" and apply parking brake.
- Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
- Disconnect fuel injector connector (1) for cylinder No. 1.
- Check that engine speed decreases from specified idle speed.
- Repeat Step 3) and Step 4) for all cylinders, compare rates of engine speed decrease.
- If rates of engine speed decrease are not in scale, check following items.
- Fuel injector circuit. See FUEL INJECTOR CIRCUIT CHECK .
- Fuel injector. See FUEL INJECTOR INSPECTION .
- Spark plug. See SPARK PLUG INSPECTION .
- Ignition coil circuit. See IGNITION SYSTEM CHECK .
- Ignition coil. See IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY INSPECTION .
- Engine compression. See COMPRESSION CHECK .
- Clear DTC. See DTC CLEARANCE .
