Charging Indicator Light Operation Failure

POSSIBLE CAUSE REFERENCE

Condition Possible Cause Action
Charging indicator light does not come on with ignition ON and engine off  Fuse blown Replace fuse  .
CAN communication line faulty Repair or replace CAN communication line  . See CAN DTC (LOST COMMUNICATION AND COMMUNICATION BUS OFF) TABLE .
Combination meter faulty Replace combination meter  . See COMBINATION METER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
BCM faulty Check BCM  . See BCM POWER CIRCUIT AND GROUND CIRCUIT CHECK .
Wiring faulty Repair wiring  .
IC regulator or field coil faulty Repair or replace generator  . See GENERATOR COMPONENTS 
Charging indicator light does not go out with engine running (battery requires frequent recharging)  Accessory drive belt loose or worn Replace accessory drive belt  . See ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
