DTC Troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step Action YES NO
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK:J24B .
DTC check 
  1. Check DTC.

Is there DTC(s) other than P2404? 
Go to applicable DTC (s). Go to Step 3.
EVAP leak detection pump circuit check 
  1. Check EVAP leak detection pump circuit referring to Step 3 through 4 of DTC P2400:J24B  .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 7. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
EVAP vent valve circuit check 
  1. Check EVAP vent valve circuit referring to Step 2 through 3 of DTC P0449:J24B  .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 5. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
EVAP leak check module check 
  1. Check EVAP leak detection pump, EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor for operation, see EVAP LEAK CHECK MODULE INSPECTION .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 6. Replace EVAP leak check module.
Wire harness check 
  1. Turn OFF ignition switch.
  2. Check for proper terminal connection to EVAP leak check module and ECM connectors.
  3. If connections are OK, recheck DTC.

Is DTC P2404 detected again? 
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. Intermittent trouble.
