DTC Troubleshooting

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES CHART

Step Action YES NO
Was "Engine Basic Inspection" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE BASIC INSPECTION .
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 3. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .
Air intake system check 
  1. Check air intake system for clogging and air inhabit.

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 4. Repair or replace defective parts.
PCV system check 
  1. Check PCV system parts or system.

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 5. Repair or replace defective parts.
Exhaust system check 
  1. Check exhaust system, see EXHAUST SYSTEM CHECK .

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 6. Repair or replace defective parts.
Throttle body assembly check 
  1. Check throttle body assembly, see ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 7. Replace throttle body assembly, see THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
ECT sensor circuit and performance check 
  1. Check ECT sensor for circuit and performance according to Step 3 and 4 of DTC P0116/P0125/P0128  .

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 8. Repair or replace defective parts of wire harness.
Ignition system check 
  1. Check ignition system parts or system.

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 9. Repair or replace defective parts.
EVAP system check 
  1. Check EVAP system parts or system, see EVAP CANISTER PURGE SYSTEM INSPECTION .

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 10. Repair or replace defective parts.
10  Engine mechanical system check 
  1. Check engine mechanical parts or system.

Are they in good condition? 
Replace ECM and recheck DTC, see ECM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . Repair or replace defective parts.
