DTC Troubleshooting

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES CHART

Step Action YES NO
1  Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .
2  DTC check 
  1. Check DTC.

Is there any CAN-DTC? 		 Go to CAN DTC (LOST COMMUNICATION AND COMMUNICATION BUS OFF) TABLE . Go to Step 3.
3  Fuel level sensor signal circuit check 
  1. Confirm that ignition mode of keyless push start system is "OFF".
  2. Disconnect connectors from combination meter and fuel level sensor.
  3. Check for proper terminal connection to combination meter connector and fuel level sensor connector.
  4. If connections are OK, check the following points.
    • Resistance of "A1" circuit: less than 1 Ω
    • Resistance between "A1" circuit and ground: infinity
    • Resistance between "A1" circuit and each terminal at fuel level sensor connector: infinity
    • Voltage of "A1" circuit: 0 - 1 V (with ignition mode of keyless push start system in "ON")

Are they in good condition? 		 2WD model: Go to Step 5.
4WD model: Go to Step 4.		 Repair or replace defective wire harness.
4  Sub fuel level sensor signal circuit check 
  1. Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
  2. Disconnect connector from sub fuel level sensor.
  3. Check for proper terminal connection to sub fuel level sensor connector.
  4. If connections are OK, check the following points.
    • Resistance of "A2" circuit: less than 1 Ω
    • Resistance between "A2" circuit and ground: infinity
    • Resistance between "A2" circuit and each terminal at sub fuel level sensor connector: infinity
    • Voltage of "A2" circuit: 0 - 1 V (with ignition mode of keyless push start system in ON)

Are they in good condition? 		 Go to Step 5. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
5  Fuel level sensor ground circuit check 
  1. Check the following points.
    • Resistance of "A3" circuit: less than 3 Ω
    • Voltage of "A3" circuit and ground: 0 - 1 V (with ignition mode of keyless push start system in ON)

Are they in good condition? 		 Go to Step 6. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
6  Fuel level sensor check 
  1. Check fuel level sensor, see FUEL LEVEL SENSOR INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 		 Replace combination meter, see COMBINATION METER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . If DTC P0461 is still detected, replace ECM. Repair or replace defective parts.
